Concealment States

2020, layers of masking tape on canvas, 20 elements, 12 x 9 in; 30,5 x 23 cm each

In this work, I am interested in the intertwinement of the geometric and organic forms, resulting in an ontologically ambiguous but coherent painting. The layers of the tape do not obscure; they develop a new surface, revealing the interstices that are crossing over into the plane. In that sense, the gaps balance intuitive exploration within a set of rational constraints.
